Decorum Policy

No individuals shall make slanderous or unduly repetitive remarks or engage in any other form of behavior that disrupts or impedes the orderly conduct of the meeting, as determined by the Presiding Officer. No clapping, applauding, heckling or verbal outbursts in support or opposition to a speaker or his or her remarks shall be permitted.

Individuals addressing the Town Council must first be recognized by the Presiding Officer and must do so utilizing the designated podium in the Council Chambers. No more than one person may address the Council at a time unless specifically permitted by the Presiding Officer. Comments are to be made to the Town Council and not to the audience. Persons exiting the Council Chambers shall do so quietly. Any individuals determined to have violated the Rules of Decorum, as determined by the Presiding Officer, may be required to leave the Council Chambers.

Notice To All Lobbyists

Any person who receives compensation, remuneration or expenses for conducting lobbying activities is required to register as a Lobbyist with the Town Clerk prior to engaging in lobbying activities before the Town Council pursuant to Sec. 2-236, Town Code and Sec. 7.6, Town Charter

The first session of a zoning workshop shall provide a forum for members of the public to learn about proposed developments within the Town. Developments may be presented to the public simultaneously, in several locations within the meeting site. During this session, members of the public are encouraged to ask questions and to provide feedback to the applicant about the proposed development. The applicant shall provide visual depictions, such as renderings, drawings, pictures, and the location of the proposed development. In addition, representatives of the applicant shall be available to answer questions that members of the public may have about the proposed development. The members of the Town Council may be present during this session; however, communications amongst Council Members is prohibited.

The second session of a zoning workshop shall provide a forum for the Town Council to learn about the proposed developments discussed at the first session of the zoning workshop. Developments shall be presented by the applicants sequentially, one at a time, for the Town Council’s review and comment. The applicant shall again present visual depictions of the proposed development. In addition, the applicant shall be available to answer any questions that members of the Town Council may have about the proposed development.
